Turn AI awareness into something a graduate can show an employer.
AI Lab runs a workshop series and a bootcamp for your students, built on the commercial method a Leeds AI consultancy uses on paid client work. Students leave with a build, a presentation and evidence.
Your students can already use AI. That's no longer a differentiator.
87% of employers expect AI to reshape entry-level roles, and competition for graduate jobs is at record levels. In that market, a certificate confirming a student attended an AI awareness session does very little — because so did everyone else.
What employers are short of is people who can look at how an organisation actually works, find where AI is worth using, judge whether it's worth doing, and build something that stands up. That's a commercial skill, not a tool skill, and it isn't taught by showing students ChatGPT.
The programme
Workshops, then a bootcamp.
Part 1
Workshop series
Typically seven workshops across a term. AI fundamentals and use case discovery — what AI can and can't do, where it's already changing work, and how to find opportunities in a real workflow.
Part 2
Bootcamps
Typically two. Students take a real business challenge, work it through the Zygens method, build an agent, and present it to a room of SMEs. Not a case study. A live problem, a working build, and an audience that asks real questions. The SMEs attend as invited guests at no cost, so your students present to real business people rather than to a marking rubric.
Built to run at cohort scale — a single engagement is designed for up to 1,000 students across the term.
What students leave with.
- A method they can use in a job, not a tool they can use at home
- Experience of a real organisational problem
- Something built, and the experience of defending it in front of business people
- A certificate

Why not just book AI training
Students work the way a consultancy works.
AI Lab is operated by Zygens, a Leeds AI consultancy. During the bootcamp students work in the Zygens Platform — the system Zygens uses on paid client engagements — capturing use cases, designing them, and assessing and scoring them on value, feasibility and risk.
They aren't learning software. They're learning how commercial AI decisions get made, using the tool those decisions get made in.
The business challenge itself stays with the business. Nothing a partner organisation brings into the room becomes a record in a Zygens system — students work the use cases as a learning exercise, and the organisation keeps its own material.
What you get as an institution.
- Employability outcomes you can report, with before-and-after data per cohort
- Industry engagement — real businesses in the room with your students
- A differentiated student experience that isn't another guest lecture
- Impact reporting after every cohort

- Typical shape
- Seven workshops and two bootcamps across a term.
- Who delivers
